Spurs hand Liverpool and Chelsea hope

Harry Kane returned to haunt summer admirers Manchester City as Spurs ran out 3-2 winners thus opening up the title race.

It took Tottenham just 4 minutes to open up the best defence in the league as Kane combined with Son to send the South Korean through on goal, with Son teeing up January signing Kulusevski who placed the ball into an open net to register his first goal for Conte's men. But City were dominant throughout and eventually equalised in the 33rd minute when Lloris spilled Sterling's cross and the ball landed right at the feet of Gundogan who also found the open net.

Despite City's dominance in possession, they were unable to turn possession into goals and Spurs continued to threaten on the break. And it was Spurs who regained the lead as Son's cross found Kane who finely finished to sink his summer admirers. It was almost three when Son once again found his strike partner Kane who was denied by Ederson. But they soon thought it was three as Kulusevski's shot deflected into the path of Kane who did what he did best and found the bottom corner, only for it to be ruled out for a marginal offside against Kulusevski.

It was heartbreak for Spurs and delight for City as the Citizens were awarded a harsh penalty as Romero was adjudged to have handballed Silva's cross. Mahrez stepped up and fired the ball into the top corner to pin a 92nd minute equaliser. You'd not be foolish to believe that is how it would finish but in the 95th minute, Spurs once again showed late courage reminiscent of their 3-2 win against Leicester as Kane headed home from Kulusevski's cross to send the Spurs fans into a frenzy.

So the Son and Kane link up seems to have returned, but it is looking like there is a new member, to make the duo a trio. With Kulusevski contributing a goal and an assist, Kane contributing two goals and playing an important role in the other, and with Son contributing two assists, is the old Spurs attack returning?

Conte remains a thorn in Guardiola's side as the Italian continues to boast a fine record over the Spaniard with more wins (3) than losses (2) against the City boss. Spurs end City's 15 game unbeaten run and inflict a rare double against Guardiola's side.

The result leaves Spurs 7th and just seven points behind 4th place Manchester United, and with three games in hand. For City, it opens up the title race despite blues previously looking destined to win yet another Premier League trophy. Liverpool now sit just six points behind and with a game in hand, with Chelsea also lurking behind them.
