Two nine darters and a big fish from Price guided him towards winning night three of the Cazoo Premier League.

A newly formatted Premier League has proved to be desirably unpredictable as Price became the third different winner on the third night of the Premier League. The Welshman produced three dominant displays as he proved untouchable in Belfast.

In the quarter-finals, he looked to avenge his World Championship loss to Smith, who had a point to prove after remaining the only pointless player. The iceman stayed true to his name as he hit the big fish- 170 checkout- and averaged over 108 on his way to dominantly dispatching  Smith 6-3.

But the iceman really hit the headlines in his semi-final against long time rival Van Gerwen. Price hit an emphatic nine darter in true fashion as despite dropping his first dart, he nailed a 180 before proceeding to hit 177 and nailing double 12 to finish of a 144 finish. The unrelenting affair saw Price register an 11 dart leg to deliver heartbreak to might Mike who once again lost despite averaging 106 in back to back weeks. For Price he had booked himself a place in the final for the first time in the 2022 Premier League having hit a nine darter, the big fish and averaging 108 and 109 in the quarter and semi-finals respectively.

In the other semi-final, Wade booked himself a place in the final after beating the weeks previous winners Clayton and Wright. But all eyes were on Price who was starting to shows signs that he was indeed back to his best. In the final, Price made history as he once again nailed a nine darter to send the Belfast audience into a frenzy as Wade was once again on the wrong side of a nine dart finish, with two nine darters now going against him at the sse Arena after Adrien Lewis hit one against him back in 2016. And despite an attempted fightback from Wade, Price held on to win 6-4 to earn plaudits would you believe it even from the fans as chants of 'Gerwyn, Gerwyn Price' were heard throughout sse Arena in Belfast. Along with two nine darters, a big fish and five Premier League points, Price also earnt himself a hefty £10,000 reward for winning night three of the Premier League.

After the incredible win, Gerwyn Price deservedly gave himself credit:

"Tonight I felt like I couldn't miss," Price told Sky Sports.

"Michael played really well against me; that's the best game me and James have ever had, so I'm just thankful I'm on the right end of these games.

"I'm playing well, I'm feeling good in myself and I think it's part and parcel to do with me being back in the gym and looking after myself.

"I'm back to almost my best - well, I think I might be there."

The win for Price saw him rise to 2nd just a point behind Clayton and level on points with 3rd place Wright. Wade sits 4th followed by Van Gerwen, then comes Joe Cullen, then Anderson and finally Smith; who has now lost to the eventual winner 3 weeks on the bounce.

Next week in Exeter; Price faces World Champion Wright, Smith looks to stop the rot against Joe Cullen, Clayton faces Van Gerwen and Wade faces Anderson.
