An enthralling weekend saw Gerwyn Price back among the titles as he won the Grand Slam Of Darts for the third time.

An untouchable weekend from Price saw the Welshman win his 7th major televised tournament, claiming a handsome sum of £125,000 alongside the title. The Welshman beat Bradley Brooks 10 legs to 8 in the Round Of 16 before eliminating fellow Welshman Jonny Clayton 16-12 and then reeling off the Machine James Wade in the semi-final 16-9 to set up a clash with world number 2 Peter Wright.

It was a pressured route to the final for Wright as the Scotsman narrowly squeezed past reigning Grand Slam winner Jose De Sousa with a 10-9 win to advance to the quarter final stage. The quarter proved just as difficult for the world number 2 as he faced Fallon Sherrock who became the first woman to advance to the quarter finals of a major PDC ranking tournament alongside setting the highest televised average by a female player, as he managed to fight of a comeback from Fallon to advance to the Semi-Finals with a 16-13 win. Next up, the Scotsman faced a rejuvenated Michael Smith and it wasn't looking to good for the 51 year old as he faced an uphill battle from 12-8 down. However, the world number 2 lived up to his name as he reeled of 8 legs on the trot to stun Smith 16-12, setting up a battle against the world number 1 Price in the final.

What many predicted to be a tight final wasn't to be so. Price raced into a commanding 3-1 lead against a sluggish looking Wright. The lead was soon further extended to 10-3 as Price was afforded many unpressured darts. The former Rugby player then showed further ruthlessness to advance to 15-6 and a leg away from once again winning the Grand Slam in Wolverhampton. But Price once again showed his struggles in dispatching his match darts as he missed 4 match darts before finally dispatching double 12 in the 24th leg. A 103 average for Price and 47% on the doubles concluded a dominant Grand Slam for the Welshman.

The Eric Bristow trophy is Price's first major televised title since the World Championship January and with the defence of his title just weeks away the Iceman will be looking forward to retaining his title and further cementing his title as the world number 1.
