The secret to Danjumagic

After joining Bournemouth from Club Brugge for a fee in the region of £15 million in August 2019, Danjuma struggled to set a marker down as he clocked up just 625 minutes in an injury hit season for the Dutchman. With his Bournemouth side also dropping out of the top flight in his first season and many of his talented teammates leaving, it was interesting to see how Danjuma would fare in the Championship.

Under a new manager in Jason Tindall (after the dismissal of Eddie Howe) it was time to prove his worth. And he certainly did. In his opening 3 fixtures, he contributed 2 goals and an assist as the Cherries took 7 out of 9 points. The Dutchman then further contributed another 3 goals in 9 before an injury left him out of the squad for a couple of months which coincided with a dip in form for the cherries as they won just 4 of their 11 games without their talisman.

However, a return to the pitch didn't coincide with a return to form as the winger didn't contribute in his next 3 games with Bournemouth losing all 3 and therefore, Jason Tindall was sacked.

With Jonathan Woodgate taking caretaker charge, Danjuma contributed towards 2 goals as Bournemouth edged out Birmingham at home. Danjuma then had to wait until they hosted Watford to be back amongst the goals as he sentenced promotion rivals Watford to a 1-0 defeat.

Then the Danjumagic started flowing for Danjuma as he contributed to 14 goals in his last 13 games; with his speed, trickery and end product punishing defences, as the cherries finished 6th. That wasn't Danjuma finished as he scored a further 2 goals in both play off legs as the cherries narrowly missed out on a place in the Play Off final against a prevailing Brentford side.

With his flourishing form, Danjuma earned himself a big money move to Villareal in the summer where he has further succeeded, producing Man Of the Match performances against Man United in the Champions League and also contributing 9 goals in 15 appearances for the Spaniards and resultantly earning himself a well deserved Netherlands call up.

I think it is safe to say, there is only more Danjumagic to come.
