The players to shine in 2023

Giorgio Scalvini, Atletico's obsession, is in danger / Calcionline.com

2022 saw the emergence of a new age of wonderkids from the likes of Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala to Valencia's American international Yunus Musah, and 2023 will no doubt see youngsters impressing once more.

With that said, here's who I have pipped to catch the eyes of football fans around the world:

giorgio scalvani

Atalanta's young centre back has already had a huge year in 2022, with the 19 year old making great strides at the club and implementing himself into a transitioning Italy defence.

Scalvani has developed a reputation as a modern ball playing defender who is most comfortable in a back three, so it is no surprise that he has reportedly caught the eye of Pep Guardiola and many European giants.

However, the Italian's 6 ft 4 in structure allows him to be physically and aerially dominant.

Julio enciso

This 18 year old has all the traits of a South American youngster; pace, skill and of course bags of potential.

The Paraguayan was snapped up by Brighton last summer and has since been a regular in their under 21 side and has also featured three times for the Seagulls.

Enciso once again commemorates Brighton's smart recruitment and with a bit of work on his confidence and final product, Enciso will establish himself as a fan favourite on the south coast.

manu kone

Manu Kone is another who has already made great strides in 2022.

The Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder has become a regular fixture in the side since signing from Toulouse in 2021.

The 21 year old has become known for his flare and intricate passes since joining the club, he seems to have the ability to play in many roles across central midfield from a holding midfielder; to box to box, to a more attacking role.

The Frenchman was in France's World Cup squad and also made his international debut in 2022 and has recently attracted interest from the likes of Newcastle and PSG.

MARQUINHOS

Just like the signing of Martinelli from the Brazilian leagues, you do feel that Marquinhos is another shrewd signing who will soon shine for Arsenal.

The Brazilian was signed from Sao Paulo with a pretty underwhelming record having netted just four times for the club, however, it is only once you see his capabilities and ability that you begin to understand why Arsenal signed him.

Marquinhos is known for his pace and skill and has been dubbed the Nicolas Pepe replacement having scored four and assisting twice in the Arsenal youth team.

Aston Villa's Aaron Ramsey has shown the potential to follow in his brothers footsteps following his success at Norwich.

The 19 year old has impressed in Norfolk and has shown shades of his brothers playing style, his quick creative play had been a shining light at the club in an otherwise toxic environment due to their dwindling form, where he netted three times for the Canaries.

The youngster has since returned to his parent club to rehabilitate from an injury and will no doubt be pressuring his brother for a place in the Villa squad.
